Soldier Dogs: America's Canine Heroes

Be prepared to get all misty-eyed and pretend you have desk allergies: Maria Goodavage (Dogster.com's news editor) has a new book called Soldier Dogs, which showcases how man’s best friend saves lives and serves our country in conflicts around the world.

In these stories from the four-legged frontline, Goodavage introduces us to Cairo, the Belgian Malinois who was on the raid of Osama bin Laden’s compound, as well as other canine cadets. The book examines the relationship between the dogs and their handlers, both on and off the battlefield - and the effects of war on the animals.
